Bourton-on-the-Water is the most visited Cotswolds village and rightly so — the shallow River Windrush flows through the village centre spanned by a series of elegant stone bridges, creating a scene of extraordinary charm. The Model Village, Cotswold Motoring Museum and Birdland Park are all within easy walking distance, making it ideal for mixed-age groups.
Bibury, described by William Morris as "the most beautiful village in England", is centred on the iconic Arlington Row — a terrace of 14th-century weavers' cottages alongside Rack Isle water meadow that has become one of the most photographed images in England. Chipping Campden, at the northern end of the Cotswolds, has the finest church tower in the region and a perfectly preserved medieval High Street that has barely changed in 400 years.
The Cotswolds villages are small and their centres get very busy on summer weekends. Travelling by coach rather than individual cars is genuinely advantageous here — your group arrives and departs together without the parking stress that plagues Bibury and Bourton in particular.
